Recently we sent out an email and letter about an
exciting opportunity that has presented itself and the Elders would like you to
continue to pray with us about this possibility described below.
A local church (One Love Ministries) has bought a
TV station (KALO TV, channel 25 on cable) with the vision of broadcasting
local, Bible believing teaching from various island ministries. The
pastor is a friend of mine; we traveled to the Philippines together with
Compassion International ministries. He has approached our church with
the proposal to broadcast our services. Since we are already videotaping
our ministries and posting our messages online it could be the next level of
outreach for our ministry.
The Elders and staff have discussed this
possibility and see it as a unique opportunity and challenge for local missions
here in the island. We are considering a 6-month ÒLocal Kine MissionsÓ outreach to Oahu. This
vision incorporates three parts:
¯
KALO TV with twice daily broadcasts. These hour long
programs will air 5 times per week for 6 months. They will include our
pulpit teaching as well as informative segments about our various ministries
here at PIBC.
¯
Outreach Seminars - During this 6 month period I would like to
advertise and offer three seminars to the island that will deal with areas of
great need in the lives of people today. These seminar topics are along
the lines of how God has been equipping and gifting me over the past couple of
years. One seminar would be a Christian Addiction Recovery emphasis, the
second would be a Marriage Intensive and the third would feature my brother
Scott Turansky from Effective Parenting who is already scheduled to present a
parenting seminar in January of 2011.
¯
Saturday Evening Service - We also feel this would be a
effective format for promoting our new Saturday evening service that is
targeting the demographic of young families.
In order to do this we would need Òall hands on
deckÓ of our PIBC Battleship. Just like raising funds for an overseas
mission trip, there will be financial considerations for this local mission
endeavor. In the past we have sent teams overseas raising as much as
$30,000 to send 4 or 5 individuals along with a gift offering. This
project is projected to be a little over a third of that cost. We also
will need people to help out with the three community seminars and, if this
ends up producing a growth surge, we will need people to step up in various
areas of service.
Would you be in prayer with us over this
opportunity for the next couple of weeks? We would love to have any
feedback, affirmations or concerns that the Lord lays on your heart. Feel
free to contact any one of the Elders or myself for more details or questions
you may have. You may enter enter your comments in the block below and click on the "Send Message" button to send you comments directly to the PIBC Office.
Sincerely,
